A New Season

Posted by Jennifer Holz on

I love this time of year. Spring has sprung! The landscape is showing some green; the flowers are coming out. The smell of backyard grilling fills the evening air. Graduation notices fill our mailboxes. I was on a bike ride with my daughters this past weekend, and as we flew down the bike path near our home, I could smell Spring. May brings with it new life and new beginnings. I love this time of year. Spring has sprung! The landscape is showing some green; the flowers are coming out. This Sunday we have the privilege of marking a new spiritual season for our youth and children. Several of our youth (grades 7-12) will be confirmed at the 11 a.m. service. They have made their confessions of faith, they have participated in our confirmation course, and they have shared their testimonies with the elders. Two will be baptized. In addition, our second graders will be receiving Bibles. May God plant His Word deeply in their hearts that they might know Jesus and love the Lord with all their heart, soul, mind and strength. Will you pray for our next generation of Christ followers? These are important moments along their journey of faith.

This week in our sermon series Who Knows? Seven Stories to Inspire, we look at the story of Ruth. How fitting to hear Ruth’s story on Mother’s Day. Ruth is an incredible example of faithfulness and commitment to her mother-in-law, and one who did not abandon the possibility of God’s story in her life even when tragedy and loss framed her own story.
