Olav and Elsie Gonsholt met through the Grief Workshop at First Pres and married in 1999.  They had 11 wonderful years together before Olav’s death from cancer in 2010.  Olav had emigrated from Norway at age 23 (he used to ski to school there) and after a career with Caterpillar Inc. moved to Colorado Springs in 1984.  Elsie has lived in Colorado Springs for over 50 years and is currently active in several ministries at First Pres.  Prior to his death, Olav provided the funds for a Charitable Gift Annuity for Elsie.  She now has a guaranteed fixed income for the rest of her life and First Pres Foundation has an Olav and Elsie Gonsholt Fund with the annual payout supporting global missions and youth ministry at First Pres.
