Week Of Prayer

In this season of change and significant decision-making, come participate in a week of prayer and fasting for First Pres.  Beginning Monday, January 23 through Friday, January 27, the sanctuary will be open each day from 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Congregational prayer provides the opportunity for us to come together, humble ourselves before the Lord, and seek his will for our church.  Please partner with others in the congregation in praying.

Thank you for participating in this time of prayer. For prayer in the Sanctuary, you will find a lighted Christ candle and copies of this prayer guide at the entrances. Feel free to pray in silence or pray with others. You may kneel on the chancel steps or use the chairs provided to gather quietly with others. If you would like to write a word or phrase of your prayer and leave it on the altar, pencils and paper are provided.

You might also choose to accompany your prayer with fasting:

“While they were worshipping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said . . .” Acts 13:2

Fasting is the self-denial of normal activities or necessities in order to intentionally attend to God in prayer. Consider a fast from email or from television or from the newspaper. (Please be cautious in fasting from food if you have certain medical conditions.)

Slow down and join together
in prayer and listening.
