Nursery

The First Presbyterian Church believes all children are a gift from God. It is our desire to provide each child with a safe, loving, and nurturing environment.  To that end, we create a partnership with families to help support their parental and spiritual growth.

Our Mission:  “Train a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not turn from it.” Proverbs 22:6 NIV

Nursery Rooms

The Nursery has several spacious and accommodating rooms to meet your childcare needs.  Your infant, crawler, toddler, or young preschooler will be cared for by a loving, well-qualified, and trained staff.   All nursery supervisors are certified in CPR and First Aid and all other staff members are CPR-certified.  Our staff is made up of caring Christian men and women with a strong commitment to meeting the needs of your child.

Infants - You can feel at ease leaving your new baby with us!  The infant room is a quiet space with swings, floor mats, toys, and rocking chairs.  A separate crib room is available with individual cribs for those infants needing to take a rest.  Nursing mothers are welcome in the infant room where we can offer you a private, comfortable space to nurse your little one.

Crawlers - Older babies who have begun to crawl can enjoy exploring our “Carousel Room” with soft space for crawling and many safe, educational toys.  The room also has swings and rocking chairs to soothe the tired baby.  Should your child need a snack or a meal while in the crawler room, we also have high chairs available.

Toddlers - Your toddler will be well supervised in our large “Noah’s Ark” playroom.  The room features a playhouse, a “kitchen corner”, train table, books, and many other educational toys.  Children enjoy making crafts, singing songs, listening to bible stories, and free play.   Dependent on the day and the program, your child will also receive a snack and/or lunch.   Weather permitting, the toddlers may also go outside to our playground for a short period of time.  Are you potty training?  We can help with that as well. Bathroom facilities are the appropriate size for this age range and are located within the room, allowing our staff to work with children who are in the midst of potty training so parents’ efforts at home are not wasted.

Young Preschoolers -
For the child who is transitioning, we have “The Big Backyard Room” available. Children in this room have more structured activities similar to what they will experience in preschool. The children will have circle time, make crafts, sing songs, listen to bible stories, and also have time to play. Snacks are provided and weather permitting, the children will have some outside time on the playground.
