The Connection

The Connection meets on Sundays from 9:35 - 10:55 am
ushering children into an adventure in learning that brings the Bible to life! Children participate each week in one of eighteen different interactive workshops (see below!). They learn traditional Bible stories and rock solid biblical truths through activities that are engaging and unforgettable.

The Connection is a place for children to connect:

  • with their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ
  • with teachings of Scripture
  • with their church as a family of believers
  • with each other as friends sharing a common faith

All children must register for the 2008 - 2009 Connection Sunday School.  Please stop by the registration table on Sunday to pick up a registation form.

What are the workshop rotations?
We focus on one Bible passage and its related themes each month. Then each weekly rotation uses the workshop topic to focus and serve as the main learning tool for the week. Here's a brief synopsis of each workshop.

  • Art Express--learning is reinforced through art including painting, drawing, modelling, and arts and crafts
  • Bible Broadcasting Company--as the video camera rolls, children produce their own news reports and current events show featuring the monthly Bible passage
  • Bible on Broadway--children act and stage their own production of the Bible story
  • Divine Online--in our computer lab, children use online resources (fully supervised)
  • Earthlink--children are encouraged to learn and apply what the Bible has to say about nature and stewardship of God's creation
  • Faith Experiment--in the science lab, children use experiments to discover how facts and physical laws support and connect to their faith walk
  • Golden Rule Rocks--this workshop puts faith into action with weekly service projects
  • Holyword Squares--yup, just as it sounds, Bible jeopardy complete with lights and life-sized board
  • Manna Grill--our 3rd floor diner brings cooking and culture together to expand the Bible story
  • Mt. Sinai Cinema--using videos and movies to enhance the story--complete with popcorn
  • People Quest--children go online to visit missions and missionaries as the learn about the culture of people around the world
  • Priscilla's Inn--the ancient art of storytelling alive and well
  • Puppet Power--children put on their own puppet show based upon the month's Bible passage
  • R&B Music--using music, song and instruments, the Bible passage is reinforced
  • Solomon Says--meeting in the gym, kinesthetic learners really embrace the Bible truths in these whole body activities
  • Synagogue--this workshop merges history, culture and backdrop stories surrounding the life and times of Jesus
  • Timothy's Travel Agency--using geography and maps, this workshop puts the story on the globe, literally
  • U-Connect--this workshop connects the Bible story with our current environment, life and times

We always need teachers who can relate to our children through any of the above workshops. Teaching in teams reduces the time commitment to only one month or 4 consecutive Sundays per quarter.
