About City Serve Weekend

God is up to something in our city, and we, as the body of Christ, have been invited to be a part of it. This move began in 2014, at the culmination of a year of focus on our city. Members of First Pres gathered in worship on a Friday night in October, and the following day more than 150 people moved out to bless Colorado Springs through acts of service.

From that small spark, a flame was ignited. In 2015, four churches came together for worship and service to the city, with more than 220 people serving in more than 20 locations throughout the city.

City Serve Weekend is a time to come together as the people of God in worship and service, and 2016 promises to be the biggest event yet. A dozen churches will participate in a weekend of worship and service in our city with a goal of more than 850 people serving the city on Saturday, October 8. And you are invited to be a part of it.

Ecumenical Worship
On Friday, October 7 at 6:30 p.m. a dozen Colorado Springs churches will gather for worship at First Pres in downtown. The evening is a time to come together and worship as the body of Christ in Colorado Springs. You are all invited.

On Friday night we’ll hear from Dave Runyon, Executive Director of CityUnite, an organization that helps faith, business and government leaders unite around common causes in the Denver metro area. Dave also serves as a consultant for businesses who have a desire to give back in their communities.

In 2010, Dave started a neighboring movement that has now spread to more than 1,000 churches around the country. This experience prompted him to co author The Art of Neighboring, which has sold more than 75,000 copies. He speaks locally and nationally encouraging leaders to collaborate for the good of their cities. Join us October 7, 6:30 p.m. in worship.

Serving Our City
On Saturday, October 8, we’ll head out, together, to reignite hope in our city by serving the different and diverse needs that exist throughout our community. We’ll serve in a diverse array of more than 40 projects throughout our city. There’s truly opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to share the love of Christ with Colorado Springs through service.

The goal this year is to have at least 450 people from First Pres engaged in service in our city. For a complete list of projects, and to register, click here. For more information, contact Laura Janca at 719-884-6233.
