What To Expect

From the time you drive up to a First Presbyterian parking lot, you’ll know that something special is happening.  There’s always a sense of energy as people make their way to a worship service, or direct their children to a favorite Sunday School class, or seek out their own close-knit community.

The first person you can look for is a parking lot attendant. These friendly servants are there to help you find a parking space and to direct you when you’re searching for the right entrance. As you make your way through any of our entrances, you’ll find Hosts that are happy to see you and are trained to help you find where you need to go.

As you enter our Sanctuary or Fellowship Hall for worship, you’ll be greeted by ushers with a friendly handshake, directions to the seat of your choice, a bulletin and our weekly collection of Happenings that will fill you in on the latest of what’s going on in the church.

Where do I take the children?

We offer childcare for infants through kindergartners in our nurseries during each of our services. Parents are encouraged to begin transitioning their kids to worship at age four.  During the 9:45 a.m. Sunday School hour, children ages three to the fifth grade learn in a fun, creative and safe environment designed to teach them about Jesus in ways they will understand and remember. Lots of hands-on activities are included. Learn more about our children’s and youth programs under the Plan Your First Visit section.

How should I dress?

First Presbyterian is a warm and inviting place and we’re always excited when someone visits our services. You'll find a mix of styles at First Presbyterian, with some dressing casually, others in business casual, and still others in suit and tie. We want you to feel comfortable joining us just as you are--whether in jeans or silk!

Dine with us!

Every Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. a brunch is served in The Plaza area right off the Weber Street entrance. If you have the time, this is a great way to meet others or to fellowship with your family. The full breakfast buffet is $6.50 for adults and $3.25 for children. Buffet selections include bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, potatoes, mini bagels with cream cheese, a griddled item of the day and coffee or tea.  You can also order and pay for individual selections off the ala carte menu, including continental breakfast items such as pastries and juice.

Don't expect to be singled out!

As a visitor, you won’t be singled out or asked to make a donation. We encourage you to visit our church over several weeks to experience all that First Presbyterian has to offer. We also hope you will communicate with us when visiting by filling out the Friendship Form as the folder is passed during each service.

Where to go with questions?

If you have any questions while on campus, just go to our reception desk in the Plaza area off Weber Street.   On Sundays, please visit our Guest Central, a place where our visitors can relax with some refreshments, receive a small gift, and find information about the church.  It is located between the Sanctuary and Plaza opposite the nursery on the first floor.  In addition, on Sundays there is a "First Time at First Pres" table just inside the Weber Street doors in the Plaza and Hosts are scattered throughout the building who are more than happy to help you.

Guest Central:
Guest Central is located on the first floor just east of the Narthex during Sunday Morning services.  You can find first time tables inside the Church Plaza and the Narthex.
